King Trisong Detsen (742-797) is the thirty-seventh king of the ancient Tubo Dynasty and one of the main disciples of Guru Rinpoche. It was due to his efforts that the great masters Shantarakshita and Guru Rinpoche came from India and established Buddhism firmly on Tibetan Plateau.
