The Tashi Triling Retreat Center is where monastic practitioners hear, contemplate and practice Buddhadharma. Strict adherence to vows and precepts is required for all resident monks. Currently there are five Khenpos in charge of the education and management at the center. They had studied and practiced Sutra and Tantra under the guidance of His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche at the Larung Buddhist Institute .
With regard to general Buddhism, the practitioners study the Five Great Treatises, Preliminaries for the Great Perfection and other Buddhist works, in particular those of His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. In Vajrayana learning, the practitioners primarily study Guhyagarbha Tantra, along with the works of Longchenpa, Mipham Rinpoche and His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. In terms of Dharma practice, the practitioners must complete the preliminary practices (ngondro) consisting of outer and inner preliminaries, followed by the practice of Guru Yoga. The practitioners who have met the requirements will be qualified to study and practice the Great Perfection.
Khenpos teach and guide the practice of monastic practitioners through lectures, tutorials, debates, discussions and so on. The teachings are mainly interpreted based on Mipham Rinpoche’s explanations.
Additionally, the practitioners have the chance to learn chanting, the use of Dharma instruments, vajra dance and the making of Torma.
